There’s something truly magical about a British summer. The long days, the countryside in full bloom, the sense of community as people enjoy British pub gardens, and the vibrant festivals and events. Summer is a season that has always deeply influenced my designs and collections so this July, I want to share with you some of my favourite things about the British summer and how they inspire Florence London.

1. Wimbledon

July in Britain is synonymous with Wimbledon. The excitement in the air, the crisp white attire, and the iconic strawberries and cream make for a quintessentially British experience. I’m currently working on a bespoke bangle with the iconic Wimbledon purple and green - I can’t wait to see what it looks like. Just like the tournament, our jewellery is all about celebrating classic style with a contemporary twist.

2. Seaside Escapes

The British coastline is dotted with charming seaside towns that come alive in the summer. Whether it’s the pebbled beaches of Brighton or the sandy shores of Cornwall, a day by the sea is good for the soul. A huge part of our time is spent down on the Isle of Wight, and it is where I get a lot of my inspiration from - the blue azure waters (that could be the mediterranean!), the rolling hills, the bright colours of the beachside huts. I love going down and sketching ideas during the holidays and am filled with energy when I am there. Plus, there is always time for a quick trip to the Hut when down there!

3. Music Festivals

Summer in Britain wouldn’t be complete without its array of amazing music festivals. From the legendary Glastonbury to the more intimate Latitude, these festivals are a celebration of music, art, and community and I don’t think anywhere does festivals quite like Britain! The vibrant energy and eclectic styles seen at these events are a source of endless inspiration for our more bold and adventurous designs. I love seeing how people wear their Florence London jewellery at festivals - normally stacked high which we love. The more colourful the better in my opinion!

4. Long Summer Evenings

One of the most enchanting aspects of a British summer is the long, summer nights. What is better than sitting out on the beach around a bonfire, or at home with a barbeque chatting away with friends as the sun goes down. Often, I sit outside during these long evenings and work, wine in hand, as I feel a sense of calm and it gives me the space and time to think about the business, and our next adventures.

To celebrate my love of Summer, I am running a giveaway this month with one of my favourite homeware brands, Ibbi, for one lucky winner to receive a prize worth over £300 of summery, hand painted goodies as well as our signature Hinge Bangle. Head to our Instagram to find out more as it launches on Thursday 11th June.

So, can anything beat a British summer? For me, the answer is a resounding no. It’s a time of joy, inspiration, and beauty, and there really is nothing that is better.

Here’s to a fabulous July!

With love,

Rosie
